New Advocacy ActivitiesThe neglected tropical diseases community was thrilled to learn that the U.S. Congress approved $15 million to fight the diseases of poverty in 2006 through an integrated approach. This important contribution will greatly enhance our efforts to prevent blindness, malnutrition, genital damage, skin disease and severe kidney and bladder disease, while promoting healthier, more productive populations. The meeting was moderated by Emory lymphatic filariasis Support Center's Dr. Eric Ottesen, and presentations were made by Dr. Peter Hotez (from George Washington University), Dr. David Molyneux (Director of the LF Support Centre at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), and Ms. Paula Luff (Pfizer).
